Best Ways to Spend your PNW Summer: Bellevue Edition
Summer in the Northwest is impossible to beat. Sunshine, the great outdoors to roam, and plenty of things to do. Put your Netflix binge on hold, grab a vape cartridge and go live your best summer life. In anticipation of the opening of our new Bellevue location, we’ve compiled a list of things to do on the Eastside this summer to help you get your adventure on!
Bellevue Zip Tours
Featuring lines as high as 80 feet off the ground and allowing you to swing through the trees at 35 MPH, you don’t have to take a fat dab to get lifted. These zip lines located in Bellevue at 14509 SE Newport Way are the ultimate adventure without having to leave the city’s zip code. Their longest zip line stretches a massive 458 feet, which means you’ll have over a football field length to feel the wind in your hair. They do recommend setting up a reservation, which you can do online here. According to the website, they also offer teambuilding reservations which might be worth bringing up to your boss!
Blueberry Picking
It’s easy to make a day out of picking your own blueberries. While the grocery store can get away with charging more, most of the u-pick farms in Bellevue charge about $1.50 per pound. It’s a great way to get a group together and walk away with a bag full of nature’s candy. And when you get the munchies later, you’ll be able to grab a handful of fresh blueberry deliciousness. Whereas Mercer Slough Farms will be closed due to construction, both Larsen Lake & Lake Hills Farm will be open for blueberry picking. Scope it out by clicking here.
BAM ARTSfair Weekend!
Thanks to the Bellevue Arts Museum, during the last weekend in July, Bellevue becomes a veritable hub for local and regional artists. With over 300,000 attendees, the BAM ARTSfair draws a crowd this size for good reason. (Consider taking a Lyft so you don’t have to fight traffic!) The center of it all is located at Bellevue Square. There is no cost for admission, but with all the beauty that is guaranteed to be there you might want to pack some spending money. Over 300 artists will be present, as well as a sound and movement stage and fantastic festival food. See more, including a map of the area and extra activities, here.
Outdoor Movies
The line-up for this summer’s outdoor movies is locked in! There will be different titles playing at Bellevue Downtown Park, Crossroads Park, and Carillon Point (in Kirkland). Being inside when the weather is nice seems like an awful waste. Thankfully, you can watch movies like The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part, Back to the Future, Christopher Robin, Mean Girls, and Solo: A Star Wars Story all in the comfort of the outdoors. Extra bonus points since Molly Moon’s will be opening just in time to help cure the sweet tooth for moviegoers. Popcorn & admission are free! See the full list of movies by clicking here. Please note: movies will be canceled due to rain, so please be mindful of the weather.
Whatever you decide to do, just do it outdoors while you can. With only a limited amount of sunny days in a Washington State summer, be sure to use them wisely!
